Brits love to visit the Greek Islands and, in particular, Crete. So we couldn't help but feel the need to bring a little bit of the island's splendor closer to you.

Although one won't be able to feel the seaside breezes, walk the pristine shores and scenic mountain trails in this blog, we were able to do something for your taste buds at least. Without the need to board a flight or even leave the comfort of your home, the Xilouris Family has brought Crete's finest extra virgin olive oil and thyme honey right to your doorstep.

Our Eat Like in Crete Blog is our way of providing you Cretan recipes with easy Cretan preparation techniques.

Imagine a daily diet that not only tastes great but is genuinely healthy too with no added cost to the family budget. All this right here, without the need to visit (although we would love to welcome you if you ever decided to come to Crete).

Today's Simple Cretan Recipe

Lima Beans Salad

Ingredients:

500gr lima beans

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 tablespoons lemon juice,

Parsley, finely chopped

Salt

Preparation:

Soak the beans in cool water for 10 hours( its a good idea to do this the night before), then strain and boil for 20 minutes. Strain the beans and boil them again in fresh water for 10 more minutes. Strain and transfer them into a salad bowl. Season the beans with salt, add onions and sprinkle on Xilouris Family Extra Virgin Olive Oil, lemon juice and top it with finely chopped parsley.
